The Seminars & Webinars Committee provides training and education throughout the year. The Committee is excited to be in the planning stages of presenting eight Investigations Basics programs, AWI’s flagship one-day training event where we present the basics of workplace investigations taught by experts in the field.  This year, our Investigations Basics Programs will be offered in California, Oregon, Minnesota, New York/New Jersey, and Calgary. If you have questions about this opportunity to have this one-day deep dive experience into the practice of workplace investigations, please check the AWI website for updates on dates and locations, or reach out to our Committee’s Investigations Basics lead, Donna Evans at devans@EXTTI.com.

In addition to the Basics program, we will put on four Public Sector Investigations programs this year as well. We know that investigating in the public arena can pose unique challenges, and this one-day program is tailored to address that reality. These seminars are also in the planning stage. We contemplate that three Public Sector Investigations programs will be offered in California and one which will be offered in another city, still being determined. If you have questions about our Public Sector Seminars, please check the AWI website for updates on dates and locations, or reach out to our Committee’s Public Sector Investigations lead, Stephenie Alexander at stephenie.alexander@procopio.com

Finally, we are thrilled as a committee to have a full offering of webinars in the pipeline for 2019. We are starting the year off with a bang with Alison West and her webinar: He Said, She Said — Now What do I do? Tips for Effectively Assessing Credibility, available now to members in the on-demand webinar library. Other topics that are planned for presentation are Internal Investigations, a webinar specially designed for the internal investigator; Keeping Yourself Safe Investigating, tips for our own safety and wellbeing, and a Hot Topics in California Investigations webinar.  More to come as we hope to put on as many as a dozen webinars this year. Watch the AWI website for updates, or reach out to our Webinar lead, Linda Burwell, with questions or suggestions for topics. Linda can be reached at Linda@Nationalinvestigationcounsel.com.

Our hope as a Committee is that these offerings will expand our network of AWI students and teachers, bring our programming to a wider geographic, economic and practice area demographic, and provide valuable resources to our members.

Want to get involved? Our committee is always looking for new speakers and suggestions for webinar topics.  If you have an interesting idea drop it in our Webinar Suggestion Box.
