AAWI Perth Launch |
Perth Launch ReportThe AAWI Perth Local Circle Launch held on 27 February 2018 was everything we expected and more. We had a turnout of about 40 attendees, mainly lawyers and investigators. This was a free event. The function was hosted at the offices of K&L Gates with sweeping views of the Swan River, catered with a delectable food and beverage package, three amazing door prizes and printed glossy flyers were circulated about AAWI. The vibe and level of interaction was just fantastic. Rebecca Taseff gave a wonderful introduction, which canvassed the inception of AWI; the successful formation of Circles in Australasia; and the benefits of membership. Retired West Australian Chief Industrial Relations Commissioner (WAIRC) Mr Anthony Beech presented an excellent key note speech which centred on some of his experiences as the IRC Chief Commissioner and the conduct of investigations. He cited three interesting (and amusing) case studies, which illustrated the importance of conducting effective, ethical and professional investigations. He was extremely supportive and encouraging as to the importance of developing organisations such as the AAWI. The feedback received from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, in particular, how great it was to network with likeminded professionals. To date we have had several memberships confirmed and hope to keep this positive momentum for Perth. We are planning our first Circle meeting for May 2018. |
