AWI has offered three previous Institutes, all of which sold out. The 2014 Institute had a waiting list of 40, so AWI is offering four week-long Institutes (two each year) in 2015 and 2016. Registration for the 2015 Institutes opens in late August, 2014. AWI Member tuition for early registration is $2,495; a $500 deposit will hold your place until December 15, 2014. Amy Oppenheimer is an attorney with over 30 years experience working in the field of employment law, emphasizing preventing and responding to workplace harassment and discrimination. She is also a retired Administrative Law Judge. An expert in investigations of workplace discrimination, harassment and misconduct, Ms. Oppenheimer is the co-author of Investigating Workplace Harassment, How to be Fair, Thorough and Legal, published in 2003 by Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Ms. Oppenheimer is the founder and past-president of the board of the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) and is on the executive committee of the Labor and Employment Section of the State Bar of California. She has qualified as an expert witness, in state and federal court, on preventing and responding to workplace harassment and on workplace investigations and has trained employers throughout the country in preventing and investigating workplace harassment, discrimination and retaliation.
Sue Ann Van Dermyden
Sue Ann Van Dermyden is a licensed California attorney who has specialized in employment law since 1993 as a litigator and workplace investigator. She also provides expert witness testimony on employment matters; advises clients on complex employment-related matters; and, conducts interactive and entertaining training seminars. Ms. Van Dermyden was listed in Northern California Super Lawyers in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. Her professional affiliations include the American Bar Association – Employment Law Section, American Bar Association – Workplace Investigations Sub-Committee, Association of Workplace Investigators – Board of Directors, Executive Committee Member, Strategic Committee Member, Certification Committee Member, Chair of Annual Conference Committee, Local Circle Convener (October 2009 – present), ASIS Investigations Standards Technical Committee, Anthony M.
