The sixth annual presentation of this popular, fast-paced, interactive program is designed to introduce the participants to the theory and the practical skills necessary to conduct impartial investigations of allegations of employee misconduct. Among other things, you will learn how to: ask effective questions, interview reluctant witnesses, obtain relevant evidence, assess credibility, and arrive at a legally defensible decision. You will also learn how to prepare and utilize all of the necessary documentation during the investigative process. Each attendee will receive program materials containing valuable checklists, forms, and templates that will assist them in carrying out investigations. The seminar runs from 9 am to 4 pm and includes continental breakfast and lunch. Previous sessions of this seminar have sold out, so register now to secure your place.

Elizabeth Rita is a licensed Colorado attorney who has been conducting workplace investigations since 1994. An employment lawyer with more than 20 years of experience, Ms. Rita has conducted hundreds of investigations for clients. She has investigated complaints involving company-wide race discrimination, sexual harassment, rape, assault, ethics violations, ethnic origin discrimination, hostile work environment, age discrimination, retaliation, gender bias, SOX retaliation, public corruption and employee misconduct. Ms. Rita has trained HR professionals and lawyers in conducting investigations, and has spoken and written on this subject for a variety of audiences.  She serves on the Workplace Investigations Subcommittee of the American Bar Association and is a Director of the Association of Workplace Investigators, where she serves as Chair of the Annual Conference Committee and the Denver metropolitan area local circle convener.  Her firm, WorkPlace Intelligence, LLC, is a Denver-based business providing investigations and training to businesses, municipalities and government agencies around the US and in Canada.

Rachel Ablin is the founder of Ablin Law, PC a firm focused on conducting independent investigations of suspected workplace misconduct.  Ms. Ablin has extensive employment law experience.  Prior to starting her firm, Ms. Ablin worked for over 19 years as in-house employment counsel for Walgreens.  In her role at Walgreens, she successfully advised business clients on a broad spectrum of employment and labor law matters. Prior to joining Walgreens, she also conducted hundreds of investigations as a Senior Investigator for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Chicago and Baltimore.
